SUPREMACY SOUNDS 12TH ANNIVERSARY

SUPREMACY SOUNDS 12TH ANNIVERSARY

To say that Supremacy Sounds has a Midas touch is an understatement. On a day that Nairobi was teeming with various events they managed to get a full house at Edge Lounge, Nairobi where their 12th anniversary was being held.

The music was also on point considering that they were various guest Djs from all over the world. The enthusiastic crowd got to sample it all from Reggae, Dancehall, Local Kenyan Music, Naija music, Bongo, Afro House, Hip Hop and every other genre of music so long as it’s good music it was played. This was a huge contrast from where Supremacy Sounds started 12 years ago. Back in Nyanza House where Reggae especially Roots and Culture was the order of the day. Even Dancehall was a novelty then and the diehard fans usually got an hour tops of it and this was usually during the wee hours of the morning.

Back to the 12th anniversary of Supremacy Sounds, it didn’t matter whether it was Dj Sparks from U.K or Dj Fully Focus or Dj Shinski from the U.S, they played music like they have been in Nairobi all their lives. They didn’t disappoint the eager crowd as they danced their hearts out and yearned for more. By the time the champagne was being popped at around 12:30 by Simple Simon himself, the crowd was in a celebratory mood and it didn’t matter if they were there 12 years ago or not, they just enjoyed the good vibe, music and dance that flowed around abundantly. “Popping the champagne was the most nostalgic moment for me. I remembered those days in Nyanza House where we only had cake and I definitely felt like the Supremacy Sounds has come from far,” said Simple Simon the CEO of the sound. After this we got to hear music from Dj Simple Simon, Supremacy All Stars, Dj Nick Dee and Dj Kace who got the crowd on their feet until morning.

To note there were notable members of Supremacy Sounds that have been their throughout the 12 years, they included guys like Toronto “Magereza”, Jomo “Mojo”, Dj Technics, Jambee Koikai, Boitah and wife, Anto “Mopepe”, Wangechi, Amina, “Issa Ozil”, Abdul, Dj Ebony, Dj Juan , Mercy, Dj Moh Celebs like international footballer Dennis Oliech, Frasha and many others. These guyz made the feeling of music magic that has been with Supremacy Sounds throughout the years come out even stronger and I must admit it was nostalgic seeing all of them together and well all these years later. The Diaspora was also not left out as it was well represented by guyz all the way from the U.K, Australia, Qatar, Dubai you name it! To note was the absence of Mc Fullstop who has been down and out due to health reasons but he will be back within no time. The presence of Dohty Family’s Dj Moh was also baffling, Simple Simon will he be joining Supremacy Sounds?

Supremacy Sounds has grown tremendously over the 12 years from a humble Nairobi based reggae DJ outfit to an international entertainment company, which now hosts shows all over the world. The proprietor U.S based Simple Simon even won an AFRIMMA award for best African DJ USA this year. By the way shout out to him for the award! The future can only get brighter for the sound which seeks to grow talent and to showcase upcoming Djs. The Supremacy Sounds 12th anniversary was a successful occasion that showed that they are a strong force which shouldn’t be reckoned with. Kudos to Supremacy Sounds for the awesome event and we look forward to something even bigger and better next year!
